WIGF Day 5: Sisterssss/Aunties

My sisters are the greatest ever. In a word: they are AWESOME.
I don't know how I ever lived in Utah without them.
Plus, they are super photogenic :)
We miss you, Bananas!

WIGF Day 4: My Health

I never really thought about being grateful for my health until I got pregnant and had to deal with swollen ankles, water retention, and overall getting-big-ness. And while it was all worth it in the end, so that I could end up with this healthy, happy little Bug:
It felt just as good to start losing that weight by eating good foods and exercising,
so that I can have many more years of carrying around
some extra weight that isn't permanently attached to me
via Bjorn knockoff/Infantino BabyCarrier:
I am so, so, so grateful for my health.
Being in good health really does make everything in life so much better!

WIGF Day 2: Baby D

I still remember looking into those eyes for the first time, and thinking,
he is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.

"What I'm Grateful For" Day 1: Mr. D

Looking back on this last year especially, I have so very much to be grateful for. Instead of the usual single-blogpost that I do every year, where I try to remember all I can be grateful for, I am making it into a whole month affair... and now that Thanksgiving is a full 30 days away, that gives me 30 days to cover 30 things (in no particular order, and of course there will be plenty that I cannot possibly cover, but I will try to get to the most important things) that I am grateful for. And what better way to start off my show of gratitude than to give ode to the man who has made my life complete: Mr. D. Without him, I am only a meager half of a whole, and I can honestly attribute all of the happiness of my adult life directly stemming back to him. I still feel just as positively giddy when I see him passed out asleep next to me in the morning as I did the day I married him. He not only holds my heart, he is my heart.
We sealed the deal 4 1/2 years ago tomorrow...
such a small amount of time when you think about it.
So "I love you" goes without saying, right? :)

wordless wednesday

Dear Fall,

I missed you this year. Winter just came right in and shoved you to the side with its icy little hands. And I was so hoping to have at least a few runs in the cool crisp air of autumn. Maybe next year.

On a happier note, I had a lovely run in the snow at 5:30 this morning with my newest running buddy L, who is way more hardcore than I will ever be, but at least she lives across the street from me, so I never have a good excuse to say no. :) I haven't run in the snow like that in ages. It felt effortless and awesome.

tender mercies

Today was one of those days...

I feel like I'm broken. Somebody fixed me. <3 Mr. D is a saint.
Completely overwhelmed. A little workout did wonders to clear my mind.
And to top it all off, I am drowning in stupid grading paperwork. (I still am, but I'm okay with it now)

I cried in front of my class this morning because of how horrible I felt.
I got mad at the two most important people in my life this morning and somehow I don't think "I'm sorry" is going to cut it. There was no excuse for me getting so upset.

But if I was allowed an excuse I would combine end of term grading stress+lack of sleep+feeling fat+breastfeeding frustration+"not-taking-full-feedings" frustration+"not working out as much as I should" frustration+"never having enough time in the day" frustration. All in all, quite a bit of frustrations.

Then I come home to this:
And I realize life is not so hard as I make it out to be.
And I also realize I have the greatest network of family and friends in the world. Thanks, guys.
Did I mention today was the first day Baby D laughed for me? It was beautiful.
Who would have guessed he had such ticklish feet?

Happy Howl-o-ween!! Sure, you can call me crazy... or just Supermom

For the last two years (ever since he was only a few months old) it has been our little tradition to take the Kevs to the Petsmart Howl-o-ween costume contest and Halloween extravaganza. He is always the only cat and the Petsmart people just love him for he always wins some kind of prize. Two years ago it was some cat treats and "best cat costume," last year he won "second place" and a gift card, and this year... no such luck. The winner was a dog dressed as a vegas showgirl (glittery heels and all...WISH I had taken a picture of it), so she totally deserved it! It was totally worth it to go solo (Mr. D had to work) with my two little angels, who even though they complained a bit on the car ride there, were just darling and perfect while we were at the store and then parading around in our little costumes. Did I mention how hard it was to hold a squirmy cat while pushing a stroller in the pouring rain?? But they were still so well behaved! Mr. D was sorely missed but I sure do love my little guys!

I give you.... Calvin and Hobbes

A very sober Calvin:
Painted red and black onesie,
dark pants,
spiky hair (or what's left of it),
white shoes with purple (untied) laces.
And, of course, a willing kitty.

Calvin sure does light up when he sees his Hobbes!!

So happy together...

"Hobbes, why are you hiding from me??"

Calvin gets so excited to play with Hobbes.

But first he has to make sure Hobbes doesn't try to run away from him again...
He really does love his Hobbes.

outtakes with spiderman bandaids

was the time I put Baby D to bed last night.

So imagine my surprise when I awoke to his grunting/cooing at FIVE A.M.

He had slept nearly a whopping 10 hours.

Since I went to bed three hours later than him, I didn't get to sleep quite that long (I only got 7 hours in) but still...

and PS to my little bug: that TOTALLY makes up for not taking a nap longer than 30 minutes with me during the day yesterday.

Three month checkup and Photo Shoot...

...with the (in)famous Wausau Bear
and the Creeper Kevs standing guard to make sure no one escapes.
Flirting with the camera/mom
"This guy... giving me attitude!"
The pre-photo shoot pep talk:
"Smile and make me look good. Or else."

This would be the "or else."
"Now, hold still and smile, Wausau!"

14 pounds 6 ounces.
23 1/2 inches long

3 months already???

My little bug is three months old today (!). Seriously, when did time start to go by so fast??

Baby D is starting to take a read interest in his hands, slowly moving them and staring intently, as if they were the most fascinating toys in the world. He also gets terribly distracted by his daddy :) even when he is eating, he hears him come in the room and immediately looks over to where his voice is coming from.

Also on the docket: Sleeping. (!) He has some off days, but for the most part, crib sleeping is working like a charm. Most of the time he wakes up happy and alert (usually bug-eyed!). Now if only church weren't three hours that cut into two of his naptimes...

Speaking of cribtime, he is spending more time awake in his crib rolling around (well, flopping from side to side, pulling his legs in for momentum). A couple of times I have caught him sleeping on his side, all curled up like a little potato bug.

For his 3 month birthday, my bug decided to surprise me last night/this morning by sleeping EIGHT HOURS straight. I know its uncommon, and probably won't happen again (he usually only goes about 5 to 7 hours at the most), but it totally made my day and made me love him even more (if that was even possible!)

Happy three month birthday to my little bugaboo. We'll be going to the doctor's later today to celebrate with... you guessed it: shots shots shots shots... (don't worry, I have a little surprise in mind for him post-appointment!).

Thank you, Auntie Kana! :) xx

Brace yourself: Sunday photo overload time :)
My two handsome men!

Finally sitting up (with a little assistance) without his head flopping around!
Oh, and the little mark on his cheek was from when
he scratched himself in the face last night :(
Don't worry, I trimmed his nails immediately after.

Kana, who's been living in Paris for the last few years, sent me these two supercute shirts from H&M while I was pregnant and I remember thinking, will these ever fit him? They are so big! Well, that day has finally come, at almost 3 months they fit him perfectly and he looks SO good in them! We keep missing her on Skype (that 10 hour time difference will do that to you!), but wanted to make sure she (and everyone else) saw how great this shirt fit him and how much he loves wearing it :)

silly faces and breakfast with L!

Baby D joined us for a girlie breakfast... unfortunately, as soon as we got seated, the UVU women's soccer team (all 2 dozen or so of them) sat by us and Baby D was SO distracted with all those girls,
he barely ate anything! No worries, we found other things for him to do...
like work on his facial expressions:
"Mom, are you seriously going to eat ALL of that food?!"
Believe it or not, he was trying to fly in this picture.
Thanks for hanging out with us, L! Can't wait to do it again for our birthdays :)

Playing with little neighbor E (Baby D absolutely adores her!)

And he is finally caught in the act of grabbing his duck toy!
Big and Strong like Daddy :)

you know its going to be a great day when...

I put on my jeans this morning and buttoned them up.
I nearly cried, I was so happy.
Its moments like that that make all my hard work (and sore muscles) totally worth it.

7 weeks left till my birthday...
7 pounds to go before I'm back to "normal"!

Monday, October 11, 2010

you invade my space, I'll invade yours.

Dear Kevs,
The changing table is not your bed...
Even if Baby D isn't using it for most of the day...

When he does it will get stinky!

We-ell... If you are going to sleep in my space....

I will take over your side of the bed!
Sincerely, Baby D.

P.S. Oh. I guess the Kevs doesn't mind sharing.

Mom was worried over nothing.
<3 Brothers.
